This is a secondary meter and not a replacement for the main utility meter hence must be supplied from the main meter. The customer shall engage a qualified licensed technician to install the UMS meters and is fully responsible for the installation of these meters. A list of licensed electricians can be found on the EPRA website at www.epra.go.ke. For electrical meters, the customer shall submit an installation certificate to UMS for record-keeping. The Customer must report any meter malfunction issues promptly to UMS for troubleshooting or free replacement. However, for faults caused by mishandling or tampering, the customer shall take full responsibility. The customer agrees to share a clear digital overview photo of the installed meters with UMS before the meters are commissioned as evidence for warranty issuance. The customer is responsible for any unbilled units registered by the main meter which could arise from connecting directly from the main meter bypassing the sub-meters. Tokens shall be charged at the prevailing tariffs approved by EPRA; check Stima Tracker. UMS shall charge a service fee of 10% for token generation and administration on the total tokens purchased, unless advised otherwise by the landlord. It shall be deducted by the customers as meter vends. Depending on the agreement with the landlord, UMS shall ensure all monies received are paid to the utility provider and evidence shared with the landlord by the 1st of every month. UMS is not liable for any loss, damage, or inconvenience caused by factors beyond its control, including but not limited to natural disasters, power outages, or M-pesa outage. UMS shall provide the customer with a monthly statement for all transactions done under the main account through email or by logging in to their website www.umskenya.com.
