Step 1: Go to Your M-PESA Menu
On your Safaricom line:
- Open the SIM Toolkit app, or dial
*334#, or use the M-PESA app.
Step 2: Select “Lipa na M-PESA”
From the main menu:
- Choose Lipa na M-PESA.
- Then select Paybill.
Step 3: Enter UMS Kenya Paybill Number
When prompted for the Business Number, enter:
413042
(This is the official UMS Kenya Paybill number for both power and water tokens.)
Step 4: Enter Account Number
For the Account Number, type in your UMS meter number.
Your meter number is displayed on your UMS meter screen.
Step 5: Enter the Amount
Type the amount you want to top up.
- For example: KES 200, 500, 1,000, etc.
Step 6: Enter Your M-PESA PIN
Confirm the payment by entering your M-PESA PIN.
Step 7: Receive Confirmation & Token SMS
Once payment is successful:
- You will receive an M-PESA confirmation SMS.
- Shortly after, UMS Kenya will send you an SMS with your token code.
Simply key in the token on your prepaid meter, and your balance will be updated instantly.
